Last night's storm was severe but moved through the area very quickly. We received 1.2" of rain at the stateline and enough hail to almost cover the yard. The hail ranged from pea size to golf ball with most of it large and irregular shaped.

The cool weather has been most welcome for this time of year. I'm sure summer will get her hot days in before fall.

School starts August 11 in Sweetwater. It's hard to believe the summer break is almost over. I for one am not ready to send my kiddos back to school. The news worthy items will increase, I'm sure, once school starts and everyone gets busy again.

Just had a storm pass over with some hail and the rain was really pouring down.

We have returned from Junior Camp (Group from Sweetwater's First Baptist Church) and it was a great week with 8 girls and two boys going with our church and we also took three boys from the Buffalo Church. We had expected the week to be very hot this time of year and so it was a wonderful surprise to have the cool weather.

Sweetwater was well represented by two firemen at Cheyenne on Saturday. Tim Bryan and Scott Locke were the two who attended. They were joined by Tom Horton of Canute and Dustin Batterton of Berlin to make a four-man team. Other teams competing were: Cheyenne, Strong City and Crawford. Sweetwater won one of the four events and Strong City won three to claim the trophy. Afterwards, Cheyenne hosted all competitors to a cookout at their new fire station. We hope to generate more interest next year and bring the trophy to Sweetwater!
