Yesterday, the funeral for Pete Myers was held at the Martin Funeral Home in Sayre, Oklahoma. He was buried at the Buffalo Cemetery. Pete was a long time resident of the Sweetwater area living northwest of the town of Sweetwater.

In about 1959, the Myers family experienced a devastating blow when a tornado destroyed there herd of cattle leaving only one cow alive. Their home was also destroyed by the tornado. All they had left was $40.00 found in Pete's bilfold which somehow was still laying in the area of the fireplace that was partly standing. The Mennonites from Corn, Oklahoma came and rebuilt their home.

Pete had lived in an Elk City nursing home since 1999. His wife, Mildred, passed away in 1991.

Sunday evening 10.31.04 at 6pm will be the Walk Through The Bible Fun House at Sweetwater's First Batptist Church. Meal be at 6pm followed by the Fun House and candy give away. The Fun House was a tremendous success last year as many dressed as Bible characters and each had a few lines to say as the kids came by and then handed out candy. Looking forward to another great event this year. Everyone is invited!
